South Central Railway Vijayawada Division Civil Defence Organisation conducted a Mega Safety and Health Awareness Campaign from May 7 to 21 across 19 railway stations to strengthen emergency preparedness and passenger safety during the summer season. The campaign was held under the leadership of DRM Mohit Sonakiya, ADRM (Infra) P.E. Edwin, and ADRM (Operations) Srinivas Rao Konda. Railway staff were trained on fire safety, emergency response, crowd management, CPR, choke relief techniques, and sunstroke prevention.
Civil Defence teams conducted live demonstrations on firefighting methods, fire extinguisher usage, gas cylinder fire handling, and summer health management. Special drills were also organized to manage heavy passenger rush during summer special train operations. More than 7,000 railway employees participated in the awareness programme, improving safety preparedness across the division.
The campaign concluded with a valedictory programme attended by senior railway officials, including P.E. Edwin, P.V. Rami Reddy, M. Dinesh Kumar, and T. Sudheer Babu. Officials appreciated the efforts of Civil Defence teams and emphasized the importance of continuous safety awareness and disaster management training.
