Veldurthi Goods Shed in Andhra Pradesh dispatches its first container rake to Punjab, boosting multimodal logistics, freight connectivity and efficient cargo movement.

Vijayawada, June 30: The Veldurthi Goods Shed in Andhra Pradesh has marked a milestone by dispatching its first container rake, carrying 2,760 tonnes of pig iron to Phillaur in Punjab. 

The terminal, recently upgraded as an Exclusive Container Rail Terminal (ECRT), is expected to improve container freight movement and strengthen multimodal logistics in the region. The facility aims to provide faster, more efficient and customer-focused transport solutions for industries while supporting seamless movement of goods across states.

The inaugural container service highlights ongoing efforts to enhance rail-based freight connectivity, reduce logistics costs and encourage greater use of containerized cargo transportation.

 The development is also expected to boost trade and industrial activity by offering reliable logistics infrastructure to businesses in Andhra Pradesh and nearby regions.
