Mumbai: Indian equity markets witnessed a strong rally on Wednesday, with the BSE Sensex soaring more than 850 points and the NSE Nifty posting sharp gains, driven by broad-based buying across banking, IT, auto and financial stocks.
Investor sentiment improved amid positive global market cues, sustained foreign institutional investor (FII) inflows and optimism over corporate earnings. Heavyweight stocks led the rally, pushing benchmark indices to fresh intraday highs.
The banking and financial sectors emerged as the top performers, while gains in technology, automobile and metal stocks further strengthened market momentum. Analysts said easing global uncertainties and renewed buying interest supported the sharp uptrend.
Market experts, however, advised investors to remain cautious despite the strong rally, citing continued volatility in global markets and upcoming economic data releases that could influence trading in the coming sessions.
