Iran Presedent Masoud Pezeshkian has called on the BRICS bloc to take an independent and proactive role in stopping alleged military actions against Iran by Israel and the United States, warning that continued escalation could threaten both regional and global stability. Speaking in the context of rising tensions in West Asia, Pezeshkian highlighted that India, as the current BRICS chair, has a key responsibility to bring the issue onto the bloc’s agenda and push for diplomatic solutions. He further proposed the establishment of a regional security framework involving West Asian countries, emphasizing that long-term peace and stability can only be achieved without external interference. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not directly refer to BRICS in his official statement, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar revealed that the BRICS dimension was discussed during recent diplomatic engagements between India and Iran, indicating ongoing backchannel consultations.
