Vijayawada Division of South Central Railway celebrated the 135th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at the Divisional Railway Auditorium on Wednesday.
DRM Mohit Sonakiya attended as Chief Guest, while ADRMs P.E. Edwin and Srinivasa Rao Konda were Guests of Honour. The programme featured prayer, lamp-lighting, garlanding of Dr. Ambedkar’s bust, and floral tributes. Speaking on the occasion, DRM Mohit Sonakiya praised Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions as the architect of the Constitution and said Vijayawada Division upholds his ideals of equality and non-discrimination in serving passengers. ADRM P.E. Edwin described Ambedkar’s life as an example of resilience and nation-building through knowledge, while ADRM Srinivasa Rao Konda urged staff to honor his legacy through learning and practical expertise.
Prizes and cash awards were distributed to essay competition winners, and trade union representatives also paid tributes.
Around 400 staff members participated in the celebrations.
