Chennai, May 13: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay strengthened his political position after securing the backing of a group of rebel AIADMK legislators ahead of the crucial floor test in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

The unexpected support from dissident AIADMK MLAs significantly boosted the numbers for the TVK-led government, helping Vijay cross the majority mark with ease and silencing doubts over the stability of his administration.

The rebellion has exposed sharp divisions within the AIADMK, with several leaders reportedly unhappy with the party’s current leadership and electoral strategy. Their decision to support Vijay is being viewed as a major political setback for the opposition camp.

With the floor test victory, Vijay has achieved his first major legislative success and demonstrated his ability to attract support beyond his own party and alliance partners.

Political analysts say the development could reshape Tamil Nadu politics, positioning Vijay as a serious force while deepening the crisis within the AIADMK.

The floor test outcome is expected to strengthen the TVK government and could encourage more opposition legislators to align with Vijay in the coming months.
