On Wednesday, the Swarna Rathotsavam of Sri Swami Ammavaru was conducted with great grandeur in honor of the Arudra Nakshatram. As part of the Arudra Utsav, a Mahanyasa Purvaka Ekadasha Rudrabhishekam, Annabhishekam, and special pujas were performed in accordance with the scriptures early in the morning for Sri Swami.
Prior to the Swarna Rathotsavam, the temple priests made a special Sankalpam for the welfare of the world. They prayed for peace and prosperity in the country, for the prevention of excessive and insufficient rainfall, and for timely and abundant rains to ensure bountiful harvests.
They beseeched the deities to grant everyone long life and health, and to prevent misfortunes such as untimely deaths, fire accidents, and vehicle mishaps. The Swarna Rathotsavam, which commenced at 7:30 AM amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras and the devotees' remembrance of Shiva's name, proceeded grandly from the Gangadhara Mandapam to the Nandi Mandapam.
The Rathotsavam featured traditional dance performances and folk art forms such as Kolatam and Tappeta, which were special attractions of the event.
The event was attended by the Executive Officer of the Devasthanam, M. Srinivas Rao and his wife, Assistant Executive Officer M. Haridas, priests, officials from various departments, supervisors, staff, and a large number of devotees.
