The R&B department has announced that temporary changes have been made to the schedule for the restoration work on the Indrakeeladri Sri Kanakadurga Temple ghat road due to weather conditions. The endowment department and the R&B department have set a target to complete the work, which started on May 26, by June 12.
However, due to severe heat and strong winds in Vijayawada, it has become increasingly difficult for workers to carry out tasks on-site. The R&B sub-division deputy executive engineer informed the temple authorities through a letter that undertaking road repairs involving bitumen and chemical mixing in such weather conditions is technically unfavorable.
They mentioned that due to the high temperatures, there is a possibility of more cracks appearing on the road, and therefore, the repair work is being temporarily halted. They stated that a new schedule for permanent modernization work will be announced as soon as the weather returns to normal. Currently, officials revealed that the ghat road is being temporarily restored to ensure smooth traffic for devotees.
Starting tomorrow, May 29, vehicles will be allowed on the ghat road as usual from the morning, and temple authorities have requested cooperation from devotees and drivers.
