Visakhapatnam, June 23: A devastating fire ripped through a chemical manufacturing unit in Pharma City, Parawada, on Tuesday, claiming the lives of at least two workers and leaving two others injured.

The blaze erupted at Dakshin Energy Industries, triggering panic across the industrial zone as thick plumes of smoke engulfed the area. Preliminary reports indicate that two workers were charred to death inside the facility, while rescue teams rushed the injured to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

Firefighters and disaster response personnel launched an intensive operation to contain the flames and search for workers who may still be trapped inside the factory premises. Authorities fear the death toll could increase as rescue efforts continue.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. Senior officials and emergency teams have reached the spot, and an investigation has been initiated to determine what triggered the deadly incident.

The tragedy has once again raised serious concerns over industrial safety standards in the region's rapidly expanding pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing hub.
