South Coast Railway has commissioned a modern Sleeping Pods facility at Vijayawada Railway Station, offering safe, hygienic and affordable transit accommodation for passengers.
Located on Platform No. 1, the facility features 168 sleeping pods, including 14 reserved for women, along with three family cabins. Each pod is equipped with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a personal locker, charging points and comfortable bedding. Tariffs are set at ₹200 for up to three hours and ₹400 for up to 12 hours.
Available exclusively to valid railway ticket holders, bookings can be made on-site or in advance. The facility, developed under the Non-Fare Revenue (NFR) initiative, is the first of its kind in Vijayawada Division and the third in South Coast Railway. Divisional Railway Manager Mohit Sonakiya said the initiative reflects Indian Railways' commitment to delivering modern, passenger-friendly amenities while enhancing travel convenience.
