Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan has urged the Central government to extend support for an ambitious integrated airport-port development initiative aimed at transforming the state into a major logistics and trade hub.
The proposed project focuses on creating seamless connectivity between airports, seaports, industrial zones and transport corridors to improve cargo movement, attract investments and strengthen Kerala's position in international trade.
According to the Chief Minister, the integrated infrastructure model will enhance export capabilities, reduce logistics costs and generate significant employment opportunities across multiple sectors, including shipping, aviation and manufacturing.
The Kerala government is expected to seek financial assistance and policy support from the Centre to fast-track the project, which is being viewed as a key step towards boosting economic growth and making the state a leading gateway for maritime and air cargo operations in southern India.
