The Vijayawada Division of South Coast Railway observed World Population Day 2026 at the Divisional Railway Hospital, organising an awareness programme to promote population stabilisation, family planning and reproductive healthcare among railway beneficiaries.
Held under the United Nations theme, "Realising the hopes and aspirations of young people – today and for the future," the event highlighted the importance of informed family planning, gender equality and accessible reproductive healthcare. Addressing the gathering, Dr M. Jaideep, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent (Health & Family Welfare), stressed the need for greater awareness on population issues, while Dr A.V.S.K. Prasad, Chief Medical Superintendent, underscored the role of quality reproductive healthcare in building healthier families and sustainable communities.
Medical officers also conducted an interactive session on family planning methods and reproductive health services, with participants actively engaging in discussions and seeking expert guidance.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment to promoting informed choices for a healthier future.
