A Vijayawada Division railway employee has earned the South Coast Railway General Manager’s ‘Employee of the Month’ Safety Award for outstanding alertness and swift action that averted a potential rail mishap.Station Superintendent M. Ramesh Babu of Chirala spotted broken iron securing strips on a goods train carrying iron coil rolls while exchanging departure signals on 2 June 2026. He immediately alerted the Loco Pilot, Vetapalem Station Master and the Control Office, enabling the train to be halted for inspection. His prompt response prevented the iron coils from falling onto the tracks, ensuring safe rail operations. The award was presented by South Coast Railway General Manager Sandeep Mathur on 28 July 2026, recognising exemplary commitment to railway safety.
