Vijayawada’s Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam has secured the prestigious state-level Swachha Andhra Award 2026 under the ‘Swarnandhra–Swachha Andhra Initiatives (SASA)’. The award, recognising excellence among temples and religious institutions, was presented at a ceremony at A-Convention Centre in Vijayawada on Friday evening.
Temple Executive Officer V.K. Sheena Naik and Chairman Borra Radhakrishna received the honour from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. The temple was recognised for strong standards in cleanliness, waste segregation and collection, sanitation facilities, surrounding-area hygiene, plastic-free practices and devotee awareness. The officials credited the achievement to government guidance and the sustained efforts of sanitation workers and temple staff. They said similar eco-friendly and cleanliness-focused measures would continue during the forthcoming Dasara Sharannavaratri celebrations
