South Coast Railway is stepping up crowd-management plans ahead of Dussehra, Diwali and Chhath, with stations and trains expected to see a hefty rise in passenger numbers.
General Manager Sandeep Mathur reviewed arrangements with senior officials and Divisional Railway Managers, calling for round-the-clock security, smoother ticketing, real-time travel updates and better passenger facilities. Extra trains are being run to key destinations, while additional coaches have been attached to existing services to cope with the holiday rush.
Passengers have also been urged to play it safe by avoiding footboard travel, track crossings, unsafe boarding and needless alarm-chain pulling.
