An Indian Air Force Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter jet went missing from radar contact over Assam's Karbi Anglong district on March 4, 2026, shortly after takeoff from Jorhat air base during a routine training sortie.

As of March 5 evening, intensive search operations involving ground teams, helicopters, and aerial assets persist amid dense forests and challenging terrain, with no confirmed sightings of wreckage, black box, or the pilot.

IAF officials report no communication since 7:42 PM and urge avoiding speculation while a court of inquiry prepares.
