Breaking News

Bengaluru, March 10: Medical services across Karnataka were thrown into turmoil on Tuesday as doctors launched a sudden strike, triggering disruptions in hospitals and leaving thousands of patients struggling to access treatment. The strike, supported by doctors from government and private hospitals, led to the suspension of outpatient services (OPDs) and elective procedures in major cities including Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Hubballi. Long queues and confusion were reported outside several hospitals as patients were turned away due to the protest. Doctors say the agitation was sparked by growing concerns over safety inside hospitals, citing repeated incidents of violence against healthcare professionals. Medical associations are demanding stricter laws, enhanced security in hospitals, and immediate government intervention to protect doctors and medical staff. Despite the strike, emergency departments and intensive care units were kept operational to ensure critical patients continued receiving treatment. However, the sudden halt of regular services has raised serious concerns about the impact on thousands of patients across the state. Officials from the Karnataka Health Department have urged doctors to call off the strike and return to duty, assuring that talks will be held to address their demands. Meanwhile, negotiations between doctors’ associations and the government are expected to take place soon as authorities scramble to restore normal healthcare services. The strike has once again highlighted the rising tension between healthcare workers and authorities, with patient care caught in the middle of the growing crisis
