Centre says LPG supply is stable across India, assures cylinder delivery within 48–60 hours and announces 25% increase in LPG production amid global oil route concerns.

The Central Government on Wednesday issued a key clarification regarding concerns over a possible shortage of cooking gas cylinders in the country. Officials said there is no need for panic, assuring that LPG supplies remain stable and sufficient to meet domestic demand. According to the government, consumers who book an LPG cylinder will receive delivery within two to two-and-a-half days. Authorities also stated that steps have been taken to streamline distribution so that households do not face delays in receiving cylinders. The Centre further revealed that LPG production has been increased by 25 percent to strengthen supplies across the country. Officials said the move is aimed at preventing any disruption in availability despite ongoing geopolitical tensions affecting global energy routes. Addressing concerns about crude oil imports, the government clarified that India is sourcing oil through alternative routes that do not depend on the Strait of Hormuz. The shift ensures continuity in energy supply even if shipments through the strategic waterway face disruptions. Officials added that the country has already secured more crude oil than the quantity affected by the halted supplies from the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring that domestic LPG production and fuel availability remain unaffected. The government reiterated that the energy supply chain is under close monitoring and that adequate stock has been maintained to ensure uninterrupted LPG availability for households across India.
