Beirut, April 29, 2026:
A fresh Israeli strike in southern Lebanon has injured two Lebanese soldiers and disrupted an ongoing rescue mission, according to official Lebanese sources, further heightening tensions along the border.
The strike reportedly hit the town of Majdal Zoun, where Lebanese army personnel and civil defense teams were working to assist civilians following earlier damage. The Lebanese military confirmed that two soldiers were wounded when the strike targeted the area during the operation.
Rescue officials said several emergency responders were caught under debris after the impact, triggering an urgent search and recovery effort. Additional teams have been deployed to the scene as authorities race against time to reach those trapped beneath collapsed structures.
There has been no immediate statement from Israel regarding the strike. However, Israeli forces have maintained that their operations in southern Lebanon are focused on militant positions, particularly those linked to Hezbollah, which operates extensively near the border.
The latest incident comes amid a fragile ceasefire that has seen repeated violations in recent weeks. Cross-border tensions between Israel and Hezbollah have remained high, raising concerns of a broader escalation in the region despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to stabilize the situation.
