Ā A devastating fire broke out in a residential apartment building in East Delhi during the early hours of Sunday, claiming the lives of at least nine people and leaving several others injured. The incident occurred in the Vivek Vihar area, where flames rapidly engulfed multiple floors, creating panic among residents who were asleep at the time.
Ā According to initial reports, the blaze is believed to have been triggered by a suspected air-conditioner explosion on one of the middle floors. The fire spread quickly through the building, filling staircases and corridors with thick smoke, making escape extremely difficult for those trapped inside.
Ā Emergency response teams rushed to the scene soon after the alarm was raised, with multiple fire engines deployed to control the blaze. Firefighters carried out a challenging rescue operation, evacuating residents through windows and balconies while battling intense flames for several hours.
Authorities confirmed that nine people lost their lives in the tragedy, with victims found in different parts of the building, including staircases. Several injured individuals were shifted to nearby hospitals, where some are reported to be in critical condition due to burns and smoke inhalation
