Chennai, Tamil Nadu: In a major political development after the Tamil Nadu Assembly election results, the Communist Party of India (CPI) and Communist Party of India (Marxist) have announced unconditional support to for the formation of the next government in the state.
Addressing a joint press conference in Chennai alongside CPI(M) leaders, CPI State Secretary R. Mutharasan and senior CPI leader Veerapandian said that TVK had formally approached CPI, CPI(M), and seeking support after emerging as the leading force in the elections.
Veerapandian stated that the decision was taken after internal party consultations and democratic discussions within the Left parties. He emphasized that the people of Tamil Nadu had delivered a clear mandate in favor of TVK and that democratic parties must respect the public verdict. “
It is normal in a democracy to have political ups and downs. The people of Tamil Nadu have supported TVK and decided to elect them. We have taken this decision in a democratic way,” he said during the media interaction.
The announcement is being viewed as a significant boost for TVK’s efforts to secure a stable majority and formally stake claim to power. Political observers believe the support from CPI and CPI(M) could strengthen the opposition bloc against traditional Dravidian power centers in the state.
The fast-changing political equations in Tamil Nadu have triggered intense discussions across political circles, with attention now shifting toward possible alliance dynamics and cabinet formation in the coming days.
