Chennai, May 9, 2026:
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will attend the swearing-in ceremony of C. Joseph Vijay as the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Sunday, adding national attention to a historic political transition in the state.
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar invited Vijay to take oath after he submitted letters of support from alliance partners. The ceremony is expected to take place in Chennai on Sunday morning.
Vijay’s rise marks a major turning point in Tamil Nadu politics, as he becomes the first leader in decades to break the long-standing dominance of the DMK and AIADMK.
