Hyderabad: In a significant development in the POCSO case, accused Bandi Sai Bhagirath, son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has surrendered before the police after remaining absconding for several days.

Police officials had earlier intensified the search operation and issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) to trace the accused. Multiple special teams were deployed and searches were carried out at several locations during the investigation.

The case was registered following allegations under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act based on a complaint by a minor. Investigators have also included relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in the case.

Authorities had been tracking the accused using technical evidence and surveillance inputs while continuing legal procedures. The surrender is expected to pave the way for further interrogation and formal investigation steps.

Police sources say the probe is still underway and more details will emerge after questioning and verification of evidence.
