Lucknow, June 22: A major fire at a coaching centre building in Lucknow on Monday resulted in the deaths of at least 14 people and left several others injured, triggering
panic and a large-scale rescue operation. According to officials, the fire spread rapidly through the building, forcing students and staff to rush for safety. Emergency teams, including firefighters, police personnel, and disaster response units, were deployed to bring the blaze under control and rescue those trapped inside
. Several injured victims were shifted to nearby hospitals, where they are undergoing treatment. Authorities are continuing search and rescue efforts while assessing the extent of the damage.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh for the next of kin of each victim. Those injured in the incident will receive ₹50,000 as financial assistance
. The state government has ordered an investigation into the cause of the fire. Officials will also examine whether safety norms were being followed at the premises.
