Srinagar, July 3:
The first batch of pilgrims on Friday departed from the Domail base camp in Baltal for the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra, marking the beginning of the sacred trek to the revered Amarnath cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir.
Thousands of devotees, chanting devotional slogans, began their journey in the early hours under tight security arrangements. The Baltal route, known for being shorter but steeper, is one of the two main paths leading to the holy cave shrine.
Authorities have put in place extensive security, medical facilities, emergency response teams, and logistical support to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage. Officials are closely monitoring weather conditions and movement along the route to assist pilgrims throughout the yatra.
The annual Shri Amarnath Yatra attracts devotees from across India, who undertake the pilgrimage to offer prayers at the naturally formed ice Shiva Lingam inside the holy cave. The pilgrimage is being conducted amid heightened security and comprehensive arrangements by the administration.
