A Delta Air Lines flight carrying 52 passengers and six crew members was struck by fireworks while approaching Chicago for landing during Independence Day celebrations.

 The crew reported hearing a loud impact during the aircraft's descent, but the flight landed safely without incident. No injuries were reported among the 58 people on board.

 Airport and aviation authorities have begun an investigation to determine how the fireworks entered the aircraft's flight path. Officials are expected to review safety measures around airports during major fireworks events.
