 U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he will address the nation on Thursday evening at 9 p.m. ET, as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to rise amid growing security concerns in the Middle East

. Earlier in the day, Trump said the United States would introduce charges for ships seeking protected passage through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil shipments. He also announced the reintroduction of a U.S. blockade targeting Iranian ports and maritime trade. 

According to the administration, the measures are intended to safeguard international shipping lanes and increase pressure on Iran following recent regional developments. Tehran has strongly criticized the move and warned that any restrictions on its maritime activities could further destabilize the region.

The latest developments have renewed fears of disruptions to global energy supplies, with markets closely watching events in the Gulf. Trump's televised address is expected to provide further details on U.S. strategy and potential next steps in the standoff with Iran.
