Washington: The United States military has denied reports from Iran claiming that American soldiers were killed in an attack on the Al-Tanf military base located near the Syria-Jordan border.
Iranian sources had alleged that their forces targeted the strategically important base and caused casualties among US troops stationed there. The claim quickly gained attention amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
Responding to the reports, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) issued a statement on X, stating that no American service members had been killed or injured in the incident and dismissing the Iranian claims as inaccurate.
The Al-Tanf base remains a key US military position in southeastern Syria, playing an important role in regional security operations and monitoring militant activity near the border areas.
The exchange of conflicting statements highlights the growing information battle accompanying the wider geopolitical tensions between Washington and Tehran, with both nations continuing to trade accusations over military activities in the region.
