New Delhi: High political drama unfolded in the national capital as Delhi Police detained Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav while they attempted to march towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official residence. The Opposition leaders were leading a protest against alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and the police action on student demonstrators.

The protest turned tense after security personnel stopped the march near the high-security zone surrounding the Prime Minister's residence. Delhi Police removed several Opposition leaders and supporters from the protest site, citing security restrictions and prohibitory measures in the area.

Addressing the media during the protest, Rahul Gandhi accused the Centre of suppressing democratic voices and demanded accountability over the NEET controversy. He called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to publicly clarify the government's stand on the examination row and the police crackdown on protesting students.

The Congress also intensified its demands, seeking the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the handling of the NEET issue. The party further demanded ₹1 crore compensation for the families of those who allegedly lost their lives in connection with the NEET controversy, while accusing the government of failing to protect students' interests.
