The internal crisis in Telangana Congress appears to be deepening, with factional politics threatening to overshadow the party’s battle against the Opposition. In several districts, leaders are increasingly turning their guns on their own colleagues, exposing growing cracks within the ruling party.

The latest flashpoint is Parakala, where a political confrontation involving Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Minister Konda Surekha, her daughter Konda Sushmitha, and sitting MLA Revoori Prakash Reddy has triggered fresh tensions

Sushmitha’s Attack Sparks Political Storm

She also reportedly issued a strong warning over the Parakala seat, making it clear that she would not accept Revoori Prakash Reddy being given the ticket again. The remarks have now become a major embarrassment for the Congress leadership.

The controversy erupted after Revanth Reddy reportedly visited the Parakala Assembly constituency and indicated that sitting MLA Revoori Prakash Reddy would be the party’s candidate again in the next election

. That announcement reportedly angered Konda Sushmitha, daughter of Minister Konda Surekha. Sushmitha is alleged to have launched a sharp personal attack on the Chief Minister, claiming that she and her family had played a role in introducing Revanth Reddy to the Congress high command and accusing him of becoming arrogant after becoming Chief Ministe.

“If Sushmitha Spoke, Why Am I Being Served Notice?”

The controversy intensified after a notice was reportedly issued to Minister Konda Surekha. Surekha is said to have questioned the move, asking why she was being served a notice when the controversial statements were made by her daughter. The episode has opened yet another front in the already bitter factional battle inside Telangana Congress.

18 MLAs, 2 MLCs Meet as Tensions Rise

The Revanth Reddy camp has reportedly gone into damage-control mode following the controversy. As many as 18 MLAs and two MLCs are said to have attended a meeting on Friday. The meeting, reportedly held amid growing concern over the escalating internal disputes, is being viewed as a significant political signal.

According to political sources, concerns were conveyed to the Chief Minister that Sushmitha’s aggressive attack may not be an isolated development and that the forces behind the episode need to be identified before the dispute spirals into a larger crisis.

The fear within the Revanth camp is that unchecked factional warfare could eventually damage the Congress government itself.

Revanth’s Return From US Trip Fuels Speculation

Revanth Reddy is expected to return to Hyderabad on August 23 without undertaking his planned US visit. The Chief Minister’s side has reportedly attributed the change to the Centre not granting the required permission for the foreign trip. However, political observers are looking beyond the official explanation, linking his return to the growing political turbulence within the state Congress unit.

The emerging question is simple: Is Revanth Reddy returning because of administrative constraints—or because the Congress house is increasingly becoming difficult to control?

Chinna Reddy, Rajagopal Reddy Comments Add Fuel

The statements and political positioning of senior Congress leaders, including Vanaparthi Chinna Reddy and Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, have also become a subject of intense discussion within party circles. With disagreements over constituencies, leadership, candidate selection and political influence becoming increasingly public, the Congress leadership faces a difficult challenge: keeping its own house in order while remaining in power.

Congress Faces Its Biggest Internal Test

The latest Parakala controversy has exposed what could become a dangerous fault line for the ruling party.

If Congress leaders continue attacking one another publicly, the political damage could extend far beyond a single constituency. What began as a dispute over one Assembly ticket is rapidly turning into a test of Revanth Reddy’s control over the Telangana Congress.

For the Chief Minister, the immediate challenge is no longer just defeating the Opposition.
