Chennai, August 29: Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy is reportedly being considered for the post of Tamil Nadu Governor, triggering fresh political speculation in the state.
Kiran Kumar Reddy, who served as the last Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, held the post from November 2010 until March 2014. His name has now emerged amid discussions over the appointment of a full-time Governor for Tamil Nadu
Reports suggest that the Centre is considering several names for the position, with Kiran Kumar Reddy reportedly among the prominent contenders. His political experience and association with the BJP have added weight to the speculation.
Kiran Kumar Reddy joined the BJP in 2023 after earlier political stints with the Congress and the Jai Samaikyandhra Party. He had opposed the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and was the final Chief Minister of the undivided state.
However, there is no official announcement yet confirming his appointment as Tamil Nadu Governor. The President of India makes gubernatorial appointments, and no such appointment order naming Kiran Kumar Reddy has been issued so far.
The speculation comes at a politically significant time for Tamil Nadu, with the state's Governor's office drawing renewed attention following the change in the state government.
