The United States has launched fresh attacks on Iran near the Hormuz Strait. In retaliation, Iran has targeted American bases in Jordan. Regional tensions are escalating.

Washington/Tehran: Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated once again. The U.S. recently conducted airstrikes in southern coastal areas of Iran near the Strait of Hormuz. Local media reported explosions in areas such as Bandar Abbas, Jask, Chabahar, Sirik, and Kishm. According to U.S. Central Command, attacks targeted radar, air defense, communication systems, and maritime-related objectives belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

In retaliation to the U.S. strikes, Iran also targeted American military installations in the region with missiles and drones. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that attacks were specifically carried out on American military bases in Jordan. However, U.S. officials clarified that there were no casualties among their personnel. The Jordanian military reported that it intercepted 10 out of 13 ballistic missiles, with the remaining three falling far from populated areas.

The U.S. stated that the recent strikes were a response to Iran's attempts to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and efforts to lay mines in the sea. These developments have heightened concerns over one of the world's key oil transportation routes, the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran, on the other hand, strongly condemned the U.S. attacks and warned of a more severe response. International sources believe that the latest developments could end the relative calm that has persisted for several weeks and risk transforming the U.S.-Iran conflict into a broader regional crisis once again.
