160 electronic detonators found near the Madras Regiment Army Camp in Bolarum, Hyderabad, amid a probe into reported weapons and ammunition theft.

Breaking News

Hyderabad, September 3: A major security scare has erupted near the Madras Regiment Army Camp in Bolarum, Hyderabad, after 160 electronic detonators were reportedly found abandoned inside a plastic bucket near the rear wall of the camp’s firing range.

The discovery has triggered heightened security measures, with Army personnel immediately alerting the police after the suspicious material was spotted.

Police teams rushed to the location and examined the detonators. According to preliminary information, the devices were secured following directions from the Malkajgiri Bomb Disposal Team.

The biggest question now confronting investigators is: Who left the detonators near the heavily secured Army premises — and why?

Police are examining multiple possibilities, including whether the detonators were brought to the location for some work, transported from another area and abandoned, or deliberately left there. Investigators are also trying to establish the origin and intended use of the material.

The discovery assumes greater significance because it comes amid an ongoing investigation into the reported theft of weapons and ammunition from the Madras Regiment premises.

Just two days ago, Army officials reportedly discovered that unidentified persons had broken open the lock of a room used to store weapons and allegedly escaped with weapons and ammunition.ed detonators are reportedly worth around ₹32,000.

Following a complaint from Army authorities, the Bolarum Police registered a case on Monday. With detonators now being found close to the Army camp, investigators are treating the development seriously.

Authorities are examining whether the two incidents are connected or completely unrelated. Given the sensitive nature of the case and its implications for defence security, police are reportedly maintaining tight secrecy over the investigation.
