Army Arms Theft Case: Shocking Details Emerge in Secunderabad

Shocking details emerge in the Secunderabad Madras Regiment arms theft case as police reveal alleged Army weapon theft, reconnaissance and links to an illegal arms network.

Breaking News

Hyderabad, October 3: Sensational details have reportedly emerged in the theft of arms and ammunition from the Madras Regiment in Secunderabad, with police claiming that 10 days of custody of accused Malleshu yielded crucial information about the alleged crime and an illegal arms network.

According to police, Malleshu joined the Army in 2009 and received specialised training in handling weapons and ammunition. Investigators said he was entrusted with armoury-related responsibilities at different cantonments. Police also stated that he had faced disciplinary action on several occasions over alleged negligence of duty.

The investigation reportedly revealed that Malleshu came into contact in 2022 with an alleged illegal arms dealer, Aval Dey alias Obi, in Barrackpore, Kolkata. Police said Malleshu was introduced to Aval Dey through Birbal Shah and allegedly purchased a firearm for ₹10,000. Police have also claimed that Malleshu had previously figured as an accused in house-theft cases in the Amrabad and Achampet areas. Investigators allege that financial difficulties led him to plan the theft of Army weapons in 2025.

Police further claimed that he was influenced by web series and videos depicting bank and jewellery-shop robberies while allegedly preparing the plan.

According to the investigation, Malleshu allegedly conducted reconnaissance of the Madras Regiment several times in July 2026. Police said he allegedly studied CCTV cameras, lighting arrangements and the movement of Army personnel, with the assistance of Sheshu, Praveen and Vinod. Investigators allege that the stolen weapons were transported in an Activa and a Brezza car and later concealed at a house in Nagarkurnool. Police further claimed that Malleshu had reached an arrangement to sell the weapons to Aval Dey alias Obi through Birbal Shah.

Police are also investigating alleged links between Birbal Shah and persons travelling from Bangladesh to Kolkata. Investigators suspect that Birbal Shah and Aval Dey alias Obi may be connected to a wider illegal arms network operating across different parts of the country. Police teams are reportedly searching for both suspects.

The investigation is continuing, and the allegations against the accused remain subject to the outcome of the legal process.
