New Delhi, October 6: The protest organized by the India Alliance in Delhi turned into a high drama. As the police blocked Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra from proceeding towards the Election Commission office, they unexpectedly entered the premises of Akashvani Bhavan and began their protest there. This sudden turn transformed the march from Parliament to the EC office into a thrilling event. Alleging irregularities in the special comprehensive revision **(SIR)** of the electoral voter list, the India Alliance MPs demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The Delhi police set up heavy barricades to stop the MPs heading from Parliament towards the EC office. Several opposition leaders were taken into custody.

Rahul Climbs Barricade with National Flag in Protest

As the police obstructed their path, Rahul Gandhi climbed onto the barricade and displayed the national flag. Meanwhile, although the police had put Priyanka Gandhi into a bus, she came back out and joined Rahul. Subsequently, both of them headed towards the gate of Akashvani Bhavan and sat down for their protest in the premises.

Near Gate Number 4, Rahul, Priyanka, and Congress leaders K.C. Venugopal, Pawan Khera, Deepender Hooda, among others, participated in the dharna. They made it clear that they would continue their protest there unless they were allowed to proceed to the EC office.

The protest at the Akashvani Bhavan premises continued for hours. Eventually, the police moved Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and several Congress leaders from there into custody. This development heightened political tensions in Delhi.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Revanth Reddy Expresses Anger Over Rahul's Arrest

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy strongly condemned the police taking Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, K.C. Venugopal, and others into custody. According to Congress sources, he stated that forcibly arresting leaders who are peacefully protesting for the preservation of democracy is against democratic principles.

“Arrests Will Not Halt Congress's Struggle”

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy commented that arrests, jails, and lathi charges are not new to the Gandhi family and Congress leaders. He clarified that the Congress's struggle regarding the Election Commission's conduct will not stop merely because leaders are arrested and placed in jails.

He mentioned that the Congress will continue its struggle until CEC Gyanesh Kumar resigns, taking responsibility for their allegations regarding the SIR.

This incident has intensified the political battle between the ruling and opposition parties over the Election Commission's affairs in Delhi.
