Special prayers and homams were conducted at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam on Indrakeeladri on Sunday, marking the occasion of Amaravati receiving legal recognition in the Indian Parliament as the people’s capital of Andhra Pradesh.
The temple authorities organised the rituals with the prayer that Andhra Pradesh achieves all-round development, Amaravati witnesses grand progress, and the people of the state are blessed with success and prosperity in every sphere.
On the occasion of Sankashti Chaturthi, Ganapathi Homam and Nava Chandi Homam commenced at 9 AM in the temple’s old Yaga Shala. The Poornahuti ceremony was held later at 11 AM. Temple Trust Board Chairman Sri Borra Radhakrishna (Gandhi), Executive Officer VK Sreenanaik, Trust Board Members Smt. Kalavathi and Smt. Sarojini Devi, along with special invitee Sri V. Shankara Babu, participated in the special pujas. The rituals were performed under the guidance of Temple Sthanacharya Sri V. Shiva Prasad Sharma and Deputy Chief Priest Sri Kota Prasad. Speaking on the occasion, the temple Chairman and Executive Officer said prayers were offered to Goddess Kanaka Durga seeking the fulfilment of the Chief Minister’s vision regarding Amaravati as the capital, and for all the people of Andhra Pradesh to receive the benefits of development.
As part of the celebrations over Amaravati being granted legal recognition in Parliament, the temple authorities also launched the distribution of free Amma Vari Laddu Prasadam to devotees who visited the shrine for the darshan of Goddess Durga and Lord Malleswara. The initiative was formally inaugurated by the Chairman, Executive Officer, and temple priests, drawing a devotional and celebratory atmosphere at the temple.
