The government is committed to developing the Sri Shailam Mahakshetram to the level of Tirumala, said the Executive Officer of the Devasthanam, M. Srinivasa Rao.
He stated that necessary infrastructure is being provided in phases. He urged local satras' administrators to cooperate for the development of the temple.
In a meeting held on Saturday at the administrative building, the EO specifically discussed with the local satras' administrators. On this occasion, he suggested that better facilities should be provided to devotees with a sense of service. Considering the severity of summer, he instructed to set up cooling centers in the satras and provide free drinking water and buttermilk to devotees. He emphasized the utmost importance of cleanliness in the satra premises and insisted on maintaining hygiene in food donation programs as well. He advised focusing on the use of fresh vegetables and raising awareness among staff. As part of environmental protection, he announced that Sri Shailam has been declared a plastic-free temple and requested the satras' administrators to strictly implement the plastic ban. He instructed to separate wet and dry waste in waste management.
He also suggested taking measures to conduct spiritual programs and chanting broadcasts in the satras. He clarified that permission should not be granted for prohibited activities under the Endowments Act. Officials and staff from the revenue and public relations departments participated in this meeting.
