Israel-Backed Energy Corridor to Bypass Strait of Hormuz Gains Momentum Amid Iran Threats

In a significant geopolitical and energy development, Benjamin Netanyahu has highlighted a strategic pipeline project aimed at transporting oil and natural gas from Gulf countries to Europe via Israel, bypassing the volatile Strait of Hormuz. The proposed corridor seeks to connect Gulf energy supplies overland through Israel to the Mediterranean Sea, providing a safer and more efficient alternative to traditional maritime routes.

The move comes amid repeated threats from Iran to block the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit chokepoint that accounts for nearly 20% of the world’s oil supply. Netanyahu emphasized that the new pipeline would significantly reduce transportation time and costs for energy exports to Europe and other Western nations.

The project is also expected to enhance energy security, especially at a time when maritime oil shipments face increasing risks due to regional conflicts and attacks on tankers. The initiative gains further importance in the backdrop of the Russia-Ukraine War, which has forced European nations to diversify their energy sources and reduce dependence on Russian supplies.
