Islamabad | April 4, 2026 Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has issued a strong warning in response to recent remarks by India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, stating that any aggression against Pakistan would be met with a “swift, planned, and decisive” retaliation. Reacting sharply, Asif said that repeated statements from Indian leaders ahead of the anniversary of the Pulwama attack reflect “strategic anxiety rather than strength.” He added that such rhetoric is not new and fits into a “predictable pattern” aimed at escalating tensions. The Pakistani minister accused India of attempting to divert attention from internal challenges by making “baseless allegations” and provoking hostility for political gains. Emphasizing Pakistan’s stance, Asif said that Pakistan remains committed to peace and regional stability but is fully prepared to defend its sovereignty if provoked. “Our response will be fast and decisive,” he reiterated. The exchange underscores renewed tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, raising concerns over stability in the region as sensitive dates approach.
