Xi Jinping said China and the United States should pursue cooperation rather than confrontation, stressing that the rejuvenation of China and the goal of “making America great again” are not mutually exclusive. In a message highlighting the future of bilateral ties, Xi said both nations can help each other succeed while contributing to global peace and prosperity
. Xi noted that the Chinese and American people are “both great peoples” and that their shared progress can create new opportunities for the world. He emphasized that stronger cooperation between the two largest economies would benefit not only their citizens but also the broader international community.
The Chinese president said he and Donald Trump had agreed to work toward a constructive relationship based on strategic stability. According to Xi, the goal is to ensure the steady, sound and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations amid rising global uncertainty.
Xi underscored that the relationship between Beijing and Washington directly impacts more than 1.7 billion people in both countries and has far-reaching consequences for over 8 billion people worldwide. He said both sides must shoulder their historic responsibility and guide bilateral ties in the right direction
The remarks come at a time when global markets and diplomatic circles are closely watching for signs of easing tensions between the two powers. A stable and cooperative China-U.S. relationship could have major implications for trade, security and geopolitical stability across the world.
