Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Beijing on Tuesday night for a two-day state visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The visit, taking place from May 19 to 20, marks Putin’s 25th trip to China and underscores the growing strategic partnership between Moscow and Beijing. During the visit, Putin and Xi are expected to hold extensive discussions on bilateral relations, trade, energy cooperation, defense ties, and major international and regional issues.
This year marks two significant milestones in China-Russia relations: the 30th anniversary of their strategic partnership of coordination and the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation.
China’s foreign ministry said both countries will use this opportunity to deepen cooperation and strengthen their partnership, aiming to bring greater stability and positive momentum to global affairs.
The high-profile meeting comes at a time of increasing geopolitical tensions and reflects the continued alignment between Russia and China on key global issues.
