Washington, June 17:
U.S. President Donald Trump has said recent discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy were constructive, raising hopes for fresh diplomatic efforts to address the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said both sides continue to suffer significant battlefield losses, with heavy casualties reported among military personnel. He noted that Russia, as the attacking force, is experiencing substantial losses while the war continues.
Trump revealed that he spoke separately with Putin and Zelenskyy and described both conversations as positive. According to him, the leaders appear interested in finding a solution to the conflict but have yet to identify a clear path toward ending the war.
The U.S. President expressed optimism that diplomatic movement could emerge in the coming period, suggesting that both Moscow and Kyiv recognize the need for a way forward after years of fighting.
