Washington, June 23: US
President Donald Trump has reacted to the resignation of former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, criticizing his handling of energy, immigration, and crime issues.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said he had previously warned Starmer about restricting oil and gas exploration in the North Sea while expanding wind energy projects. According to Trump, the UK possesses significant offshore energy resources that could help strengthen its economy, but environmental concerns limited their development.
Trump also expressed dissatisfaction with Starmer’s stance on NATO-related matters, claiming certain decisions involving the use of strategic facilities created tensions between London and Washington. Despite the criticism,
Trump said he wished Starmer well, adding that the former UK leader faced major challenges on energy security, immigration management, and rising crime.
Starmer’s resignation has sparked political debate in Britain, with opposition parties and analysts assessing the impact of his policies on the country's economy and security.
