A Hyderabad-based Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) has been sentenced to one month of imprisonment by the Telangana High Court, along with a fine of ₹2,000, in a contempt-related ruling over alleged non-compliance of court orders in a long-pending land dispute case.

The case pertains to 74 acres of land in Pedda Shapur village of Shamshabad mandal, which has been under litigation for several years at the RDO office level.

The land has been disputed on grounds that it falls under “ceiling surplus land,” leading to prolonged administrative and legal scrutiny.

One of the petitioners, Yusufuddin, approached the High Court claiming ownership rights over the disputed land. After examining the case, the court reportedly ruled in his favour, affirming his claim over the property and issuing directions for implementation of its order.

However, the High Court observed that its directives were not implemented by Rajendranagar RDO Venkata Reddy, prompting strong judicial action. The court, taking serious note of the alleged non-compliance, imposed a one-month jail term and monetary penalty on the official for failure to execute its orders.

At the same time, the High Court suspended the sentence for two weeks, allowing the officer an opportunity to file an appeal. Following the order, RDO Venkata Reddy once again approached the court seeking further legal remedy, keeping the matter still open for continued judicial review.
