Is the Secretariat distant from the common people? Is a recommendation necessary for a visit?

Criticism is growing over the lack of access for the general public to the Telangana Secretariat. People are expressing frustration that despite waiting for hours, they are unable to meet with the ministers.

Hyderabad: Questions are being raised about whether the state secretariat, which should serve as a solution center for the problems of the people of Telangana, has now become an inaccessible fortress for ordinary citizens. There is a growing concern that for people coming to Hyderabad from various corners of the state, crossing the threshold of the secretariat has become a challenge to present their issues directly to ministers and senior officials.

Many affected individuals are alleging that despite waiting for hours outside the secretariat, they are unable to meet the ministers. While permissions are being denied to those who come seeking solutions to public issues, strong criticisms are emerging that doors are easily opened for those who come with honors, courtesy meetings, or recommendations.

Particularly, there is a prevailing opinion among the public that to meet key ministers, prior appointments, political connections, or strong recommendations have become absolutely necessary. Political analysts comment that if the voice of the common man is not heard in the administrative system that is supposed to function for the people, it poses a dangerous signal to democracy.

Allegations are surfacing that even after the current government, which severely criticized the previous administration for being "distant from the people," has come to power, there has been no change in the situation. If the secretariat opens its doors only for those with recommendations, then who will listen to the problems of ordinary citizens? The questions of whose government it is if the people have no access to a public government are now leading to open discussions.

The lack of access for the people in a system established to hear their grievances and the absence of opportunities to express their issues has become a matter of concern. People are demanding that the government must answer whether the Telangana secretariat is truly a people's secretariat or if it has become a limited power center for those with recommendations and connections.
