Erratic Rains Trigger Dengue Alarm in Hyderabad, Mosquito Menace Raises Health Fears

Erratic rains and changing mosquito breeding patterns have put Hyderabad on dengue alert, raising concerns over a possible rise in dengue cases across the city.

Hyderabad News

Hyderabad is facing an increased dengue threat as erratic rainfall and fluctuating weather conditions create ideal environments for mosquito breeding across several parts of the city. Short spells of heavy rain followed by dry and humid conditions are leaving stagnant water in residential areas, construction sites and open spaces, accelerating the spread of disease-carrying mosquitoes.

Health experts warn that mosquito breeding patterns are changing, with dengue cases no longer limited to the traditional monsoon season. Rising temperatures and irregular rainfall are allowing mosquitoes to survive and multiply for longer periods, increasing the risk of infections throughout the year.

Civic authorities have stepped up fogging operations, sanitation drives and awareness campaigns in vulnerable localities. Residents are being urged to clear stagnant water from water tanks, coolers, flower pots and discarded containers to prevent mosquito breeding in and around homes.

Medical professionals say early detection and preventive measures remain critical as the city enters a high-risk period for vector-borne diseases. Citizens experiencing symptoms such as high fever, severe body pain, headaches or rashes have been advised to seek medical attention without delay.
