Hyderabad, July 11: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the demise of legendary playback singer S. Janaki, describing her passing as an irreparable loss to Indian cinema and millions of music lovers.
In his condolence message, the Chief Minister said Janaki had carved a permanent place in the hearts of audiences across South India with her melodious voice and extraordinary singing talent. He noted that her songs beautifully reflected the Navarasas, perfectly matching the emotions and situations portrayed on screen, leaving generations of listeners mesmerized.
Revanth Reddy said it was a matter of immense pride for Telugu people that the celebrated singer hailed from this region and went on to become one of India's most respected musical icons.
The Chief Minister recalled that S. Janaki sang more than 50,000 songs in 17 languages, including Telugu, Tamil and Hindi, earning numerous national honours and accolades during her illustrious career spanning several decades.
Stating that her demise is a huge loss not only to the Indian film industry but also to music lovers across the world, the Chief Minister prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
