Hyderabad:
A shocking and mysterious death has stunned Hyderabad after a woman software engineer allegedly entered a temple without clothes, picked up an idol of Goddess Ammavaru, and jumped into a nearby pond. While her body has been recovered, police are now searching for the missing temple idol, adding a bizarre twist to the case.
The deceased, identified as Tejaswini, had previously worked as a software professional in Bengaluru before moving to Visakhapatnam.
According to police, she had reportedly been struggling with mental health issues. Investigators said Tejaswini's parents had been living separately due to marital disputes. Her father currently resides in Visakhapatnam, while she had been staying with her mother at Peerzadiguda in Hyderabad.
On July 17, Tejaswini and her mother visited Miyapur to inspect a double-bedroom apartment they were planning to purchase. After returning home, they retired to separate rooms for the night.
Police said that during the night, Tejaswini allegedly locked her mother's bedroom from the outside, left the house without clothes, entered a nearby temple, picked up an idol of Goddess Ammavaru, and walked towards a pond, where she is believed to have drowned.
Her body was recovered from the pond on Saturday morning after local residents alerted the police. However, the idol she allegedly carried into the water has not been found, prompting a separate search operation.
Following the post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to her mother, while her father was informed of the incident. Police officials also stated that both Tejaswini and her mother were reportedly suffering from severe fears and phobias.
A case has been registered, and investigators are probing all aspects of the incident, including the circumstances surrounding the missing temple idol and the events leading up to the woman's death.
