Hyderabad: The third day of meetings in the Telangana Legislative Assembly led to severe tensions. As soon as the session began, BRS MLAs staged a protest, causing a sudden rise in political heat within the assembly. BRS members accused the police of behaving inappropriately towards women MLAs and demanded an apology for the police's conduct.
"WE WANT JUSTICE" slogans surround the podium
BRS MLAs surrounded the Speaker's podium shouting "WE WANT JUSTICE." They insisted that the government respond to the police's behavior towards women MLAs. This led to a chaotic situation in the assembly. Despite multiple requests, the BRS members did not back down, prompting the government to take a stern decision.
Suspension order for 22 MLAs
Minister for Legislative Affairs Sridhar Babu proposed a suspension resolution, stating that BRS members were obstructing assembly proceedings. Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar approved the proposal. Consequently, a total of 22 BRS MLAs, including former ministers KTR and Harish Rao, were suspended for the entire duration of the session.
Following the suspension, the assembly was adjourned, marking another escalation in the political battle between the ruling Congress and opposition BRS in Telangana.
KTR's team heads to Raj Bhavan
After the suspension from the assembly, the BRS did not back down and led a complaint to the Governor. A team of BRS public representatives, led by KTR, visited Raj Bhavan to meet the Governor. They lodged a complaint regarding the events that unfolded in the assembly and the conduct of the police.
KTR stated that they brought to the Governor's attention comments made by Congress leaders about opposition leader KCR, the manner in which police interacted with BRS leaders and MLAs in the assembly vicinity, and the alleged scuffle involving women MLAs.
From the assembly to Raj Bhavan... a raging political battle
With the suspension of BRS MLAs, the political turmoil that began in the assembly has now reached Raj Bhavan. While the government claims the suspension decision was made to uphold the dignity of the assembly, the BRS alleges it is an act to silence the opposition. This situation, characterized as **"Assembly Battle vs Government's Stern Stance,"** is likely to escalate further in the coming days in Telangana politics.
