Hyderabad: In a major medical breakthrough, 19 children underwent complex heart surgeries during the fifth Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Camp at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), marking a significant achievement in paediatric cardiac care.
The high-impact cardiac camp also provided a major lifeline to children with heart ailments. More than 1,000 children received outpatient consultations and services from specialist teams from the UK and NIMS. Adding another major milestone, ECMO services were introduced under the Aarogyasri scheme during the camp, strengthening access to advanced critical-care support for eligible patients.
The successful surgeries and large-scale specialist consultations highlight NIMS’s growing capabilities in handling complex paediatric cardiac cases and delivering advanced treatment to children.
